JING LYMAN John Gardner Public Service Fellowship Selection Committee; since 1970, has served Stanford in a spousal role as the wife of Dr. Richard Lyman, J. E. Wallace Sterling Professor in the Humanities and President of Stanford University, Emeritus (1970-80): “Donor and fellowship selection committee activity has become my annual restoration of confidence in young people in general, in the high quality of Stanford students, in the faculty and staff who write about them, and in Stanford University, that nourishes these particularly remarkable young people. And I have the added benefit of exposure to the enthralling public service projects on which so many of them are already working. I know I personally win in the return on this investment."
LESLIE HATAMIYA ’90 (’97, JD); Executive Director, Foundation of the State Bar of California; Vice Chair, Haas National Advisory Board:
“Giving back to the community and developing the skills to do so effectively are critical components of a Stanford education. My involvement with Stanford in Government and other student groups when I was an undergraduate was an important precursor to my work in the public, political, nonprofit, and private sectors. As a member of the National Advisory Board, I support the Haas Center to ensure that today's students have meaningful opportunities to pursue public service activities that complement their academic work and lay the foundation for a lifelong commitment to public service, regardless of the career path they may choose.”
Your gift to the Haas Center for Public Service supports Stanford students and the communities they serve. As students work, they learn from participation in related coursework and research projects, preparing for a lifetime of effective leadership in addressing issues of public concern.
The center is engaged in over 20 staffed programs to help students connect their education to a world of experience. Please consider supporting our 2006-2007 priority programs.

Over 200 friends of Haas gathered for a festive Evening of Appreciation and Inspiration to celebrate Public Service Leadership at the Haas Center.
