Community Partner Organizations
In a continued effort to enhance Stanford’s Community Service Work-Study program, the Haas Center for Public Service has established a Community Partner Organization Program. The purpose of this program is to highlight community organizations that are interested in partnering with the Center to enhance student learning and to assist in making the experience as beneficial as possible for everyone involved.
Partner Organizations work with the Haas Center staff and with interested students to develop mutually beneficial service and learning opportunities. Specific expectation and goals for the Partner Organizations are outlined below:
- Review and evaluate student’s initial application essays which include their interests and what they hope to learn from the experience.
- Encourage students to develop and utilize a “Learning Plan”, establishing mutual goals and expectations.
- Provide a comprehensive orientation for the students, including information about the organization, the community served, and the nature of the work.
- Provide initial and relevant on-going training to assist students and allow them to excel in their work.
- Offer regular check-ins or meetings to monitor progress and encourage student reflection and learning.
- Conduct performance evaluations to help foster the student’s professional development.
