American University Washington Internships for Native Students (WINS)

Summer, fall, and spring programs are available. Interns take credit courses, work in federal agencies, Congressional offices and Native organizations, and participate in cultural and social activities. Open to American Indians and Alaska Natives who are college students or graduate students. DHHS, NIH, Indian Health Services, Office of Minority Health, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Agency, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, VA, Veterans Health Administration, VA Health Facility, Dao, Food and Nutrition Services, FDA; others.

Eligibility: American Indian and Alaska Native students, and any other students who are interested in the program, who are enrolled in a college or university as a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in good academic standing are eligible to apply to participate in WINS. The application process is competitive and comprehensive. Students represent a variety of fields of study.
